I'm Back!!

Happy 2006 to everyone. Suprisingly I actually have work to do. Today, however, was a training day and I got out early. I thoroughly enjoyed the New Years celebration and a big thanks to Avery and Colt for being such gracious host. I would suggest to have a list of taxi numbers before you go out as we all found out it was extremely difficult to even find one.

College football is officially done and what a season of thrilling bowl games it was. Congrats to Texas for pulling out a late night victory against the popular USC to become National Champs. I know the feeling! It is now time for the NFL playoffs! The Carolina Panthers take on the NY Giants at 1 PM Sunday.

In Fantasy news, Brent Lewis became the official Champ of our fantasy league. The most suprising team of the league was Andrew Eaker who went 3-0 then a stunning 1-11 to drop completely out of playoffs along with BJ Meier who was never much of a contender. The much (some say over) hyped team of Ryan Reynolds has yet to clench a title in several years. We can only sit and wonder what has to be going through these last few frustrating seasons. Will the rest of the league have a coup against the commissioner?? Will Reynolds be impeached?? Only time will tell and we can only hope he pulls out of his slump to become a dominant opponent again.

The rumor mill is lighting up about the upcoming Carolina Panthers "Miller Lite Weekend Warrior Flag Football Tournament". The tourney will be April 1-2, 2006. Due to situations out of my control (mainly the NCAA Mens Basketball Final) I was unable to attend last years inaugural event. However, I am very excited about the tournament this year. Please contact Garrett Carter aka Drunk Uncle Bob if you are interested in trying out for this years team. Tryout dates are TBA but be ready for two-a-days come February. By two-a-days I mean drinking heavily the night before and running in the morning. Reason being: the captains party is free drinks and food the night before thus we must train ourselves to be ready to drink our arses off and then dominate on the field. Uniform and name suggestions welcome as well! (Im sticking with Five jerks and a squirt - think about it)

UNC has its opening ACC game against NC State on Saturday. Tip off is 3ish and we will be watching it somewhere around Chapel Hill if anyone wants to watch it. Recently taken from the News and Observer:
"Before N.C. State fans salivate too much over the Wolfpack's 12-1 basketball start, its best under coach Herb Sendek, perhaps a bit of sobering history should be noted. The Pack's 1988-1989 team was 12-1, only to lose at North Carolina in its next game. State also was 12-1 in 1981-82, only to lose to North Carolina in its next game. And State's next game this season? At North Carolina on Saturday, naturally.
A year ago, when the Pack went to Chapel Hill, it was rudely dispatched by the Tar Heels 95-71. In the second half, the Heels' Marvin Williams had a showboating dunk and nearly everyone else in Carolina blue enjoyed themselves.
Asked this week what he most remembered about that game, State's Andrew Brackman said, "Watching every play on SportsCenter, none with red in it."
"That was pretty much the most embarrassing game we had last year," said Brackman, a sophomore forward. "But coming in this year, it's a whole different team for us and a whole different team for them. "

TallyHo!
